Open Art Exhibition 2024, Woodstock, October 2024

I recently won First Prize in the Oxfordshire Museum Open Art Exhibition with my painting ‘Emma Groves, Belfast 1978’, which portrays a victim of the Troubles in Northern Ireland.

The exhibition invited artists to submit paintings on the theme ‘Representations of people’.

“The result is wonderfully eclectic. We have a collection of people but also depictions of states that affect us as human beings too. Many different mediums are used from textiles to ink, and sculpture to photography. All are to be found in this fascinating exhibition that explores the many representations of people.” – Oxford Museum, Woodstock

The exhibition is running until Wednesday 30 October 2024. Come along and vote for your favourite in the People’s Choice Award!

Recent paintings – 2023

This latest collection of my recent work contains a brief foray into childhood memories of comics and cowboy films followed by another slant on Welsh miners/miners’ wives against a background of churches. Also the occasional image of well known faces from the past: Marilyn Monroe, Che Guevara, James Dean. Then another change of direction onto cats, some known, some not. Funny how ideas develop and then fade away…where did Putin and Trump come from, for example? Strange how the mind works.
